Every now and then I like to have a cream-based cocktail, such as a White Russian or Mudslide. Brandy Milk Punch, the classic New Orleans brunch drink, is a festive libation for the holiday season. It’s cool, refreshing and delicious….the perfect eggless substitute for the ubiquitous egg nog.
Ingredients:
1/3 cup whole milk
1/3 cup heavy cream
2 pinches cinnamon, plus more for garnish
1 heaping tablespoon of caramel sauce
1 tablespoon maple syrup
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1.5 ounces brandy
Directions:
1. In a small saucepan heat milk, heavy cream, cinnamon, caramel sauce, maple syrup and vanilla. Stir to help dissolve the caramel.
2. Keep mixture on medium heat a few minutes until caramel is dissolved. Don’t scald the milk. Remove the pan from heat and let cool a few minutes.
3. In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, add the brandy and the slightly cooled milk mixture. Cover and shake until a bit frothy. Pour into small glasses and add an extra pinch of cinnamon to garnish.
