Honeycrisp Apple Sangria. Dancing Around To Free From Gravity.

LOL. Free from gravity.

I recently hosted a dinner party themed around Steve Jobs’ biography. There were plenty of recipes with apples including this refreshing Honeycrisp Apple Sangria. Lots of apple cider and some brandy sweeten up red wine. The cinnamon-sugar coated glasses are a fun and tasty touch.

Honeycrisp Apple Sangria

Ingredients:

3 cinnamon sticks (plus more for garnish, optional)
2 honeycrisp apples, chopped
1 orange, thinly sliced
1 (750 ml) bottle red wine (a light-bodied Spanish variety or a French Beaujolais Nouveau)
1 3/4 cups apple cider
1/2 cup brandy
1/4 cup orange juice
Club soda, to taste
Cinnamon-sugar to rim glasses, optional

Directions:

1. Place the cinnamon sticks, apples, and orange slices in a large pitcher. Add wine, apple cider, brandy, and orange juice. Chill in the refrigerator for 6 to 24 hours.

2. For a cinnamon-sugar rim, moisten the rim of cocktail glasses with water or apple cider. Place cinnamon-sugar on a plate. Turn the glass upside down and dip it into the cinnamon-sugar.

3. Pour sangria and some fruit into the prepared glass along with a splash of club soda. Garnish with a cinnamon stick, if desired.

Serves 6 to 8
