Short And Sweet. Salted Caramel Rice Krispie Treats.

These Salted Caramel Rice Krispie Treats are also pretty cute.

Even better than cute, they are totally amazing.

If you love the salted caramel thing as much as I do then you will really like this variation of Rice Krispie Treats.

Salted Caramel Rice Krispie Treats

Ingredients:

1/2 cup of sugar
2 tablespoons of water
5 tablespoons of butter, divided, softened
1/4 cup heavy cream
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 package (10 oz) marshmallows
6 cups Rice Krispies cereal

Directions:

1. Combine the sugar and 2 tablespoons water in a medium saucepan. Do not stir. Cook over medium-high heat to a dark caramel, swirling as it begins to brown to distribute the sugar.

2. While the sugar is caramelizing, heat cream in a saucepan or microwave just until warm.

3. Take the caramelized sugar off the heat and whisk in 2 Tbs butter until thoroughly combined. Add warmed cream and whisk vigorously. Add the salt. Set aside.

4. In large saucepan melt remaining 3 Tbs butter over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat (I did this in the microwave. Microwave butter with marshmallows on high setting for 2 minutes in a microwave safe mixing bowl. Stir together when melted.)

5. Add caramel to the melted marshmallow mixture and stir until thoroughly combined.

6. Add Rice Krispies cereal. Stir until well coated. Wet your hands with water and evenly press mixture into a greased 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan. Cool. Cut into 2-inch squares or use a biscuit cutter to cut into small rounds.
