Get High On Willie Nelson’s Famous Banana Bread. It’s Smoking Hot.

I’ve seen this recipe for Willie Nelson’s so called Famous Banana Bread around the internet. I can’t quite conjure up the image of Ole Braided Willie baking anything. Maybe Hash Brownies.

I love chocolate chips in banana bread. This Bread/Cake has a lovely cinnamon sugar topping that crisps up in the oven. No butter either. Moist anyway. It was really good for the four minutes that it lasted in my house.

Me, I’m with Bill. I did not inhale. However, these guys…..

Willie Nelson’s Famous Banana Bread AKA UBC Cake

Ingredients:

3 very ripe bananas, mashed
2 large eggs
1 1/2 c flour
1 c sugar
1 t baking soda
1 t vanilla
2 tsp cinnamon
1 c chocolate chips

Topping:
2 Tbs sugar mixed with 1/8 tsp cinnamon

Directions:

1. Mix bananas with eggs and stir well. Add flour, sugar, soda, vanilla, and cinnamon and mix well. Add 3/4 c of the chocolate chips into the batter.

2. Pour batter into a buttered 8 inch square cake pan. Sprinkle with the cinnamon-sugar mix and the remaining chocolate chips.

3. Bake at 375 for 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into cake comes out clean.

This recipe was the one I went with.

Some Willie Nelson music is definitely in order. I personally think that Iron & Wine just does Willie so much better in this song.

This one is for Willie.

  1. Wow, that banana bread looks delicious! Who knew Willie had skills in the kitchen. Not surprised it disappeared in a hurry.

Chocolate chipped banana bread is the only way to make it! (I also add peanut butter to mine!)
