Sort of LOL. Moving right along.
I made a Doritos Taco Bake in December that was so good I could easily eat it every week. But, there is an insane number of recipes out there that use Doritos that I cannot wait to try, including this one for another version of Taco Bake.
Today’s Doritos Taco Bake recipe is based on Taco Bell’s Doritos Locos Taco which is a “Taco Supreme® made with premium seasoned beef, crisp lettuce, diced juicy red ripe tomatoes, real cheddar cheese, topped with cool reduced-fat sour cream, in a shell made from Nacho Cheese Doritos® Chips”.
Sounds good, huh?
Well this casserole nails those Taco Bell tacos. I think I love it even more than the other Doritos Taco Bake recipe. It has lots more cheese, uses crisp taco shells instead of crescent roll dough and is loaded with green chiles. So delicious.
Taco Bell Inspired Doritos Taco Bake
Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef
12 crispy flat Tostada shells (I used crisp taco shells that I broke in half)
1 (1 oz) packet taco seasoning
Canned chopped green chiles, to taste (I used 2 (4 ounce each) cans)
1 (11 oz) bag Doritos Nacho Cheese Flavored Chips
3 cups shredded cheddar cheese
Optional garnishes: sour cream, shredded cheese, shredded lettuce, chopped tomatoes and sliced jalapeños
Directions:
1. In a skillet cook the beef with the chiles and taco seasoning until beef is no longer pink.
2. Place a layer of the crispy shells into the bottom of a 9 x 13 inch baking dish. Top it with a layer of the beef mixture. Top that layer with some cheese.
3. Continue layering until all of the ingredients have been used up. Top the casserole with a layer of Doritos (You may not need to use the whole bag).
4. Cover and bake at 350℉ for 25 minutes. Uncover and continue baking for another 10 minutes, until the chips are crisp and slightly golden. Allow to cool 5 minutes before serving with the garnishes.
