Raspberry Gin

Raspberry Gin

Q: What did Adam say on the day before Christmas?

A: It’s Christmas, Eve!

Well, it’s not Christmas eve, but Christmas. Happy Christmas to all of you who celebrate the day.

Here is a festive drink to make.

Raspberry gin is one of my favorite after dinner drinks. The longer the raspberries steep in the gin, the better the flavor, so try and mix it up at least a year before you want to decant the raspberry gin.

Little bottles of Raspberry Gin make excellent gifts for any liqueur lover, too.

Ingredients:

1 quart (3 1/2 cups/12 oz) raspberries
1 quart gin
1 pound sugar (2 cups)

Directions:

1. Put raspberries into a a bottle or large mason jar.

2. Add sugar and gin. Cover and let sit for 3 to 4 weeks (a year is preferable), shaking daily.

3. Strain into small bottles or a decanter.

Note 1: A 2 liter mason jar of raspberry gin will yield 12 (4oz) bottles and just shy of 6 (250ml) bottles for gifts.

Note 2: A pastry bag coupler is very useful for helping to decant into the 4oz sized bottles.

I love Specialty Bottle Supply for my gift giving bottles.

Some Christmas music that I actually like. :)

I love the sentiment, too.

Check out Moon In The Morning on the Hey It’s Christmas! cd on Bandcamp where you can buy the music.

Cheers and Happy Christmas! xx
