Q: What did the Zen Buddhist say to the hot dog man?
A: Make me one with everything.
I made these cute Hot Dog Race Cars for my son’s birthday party a couple of years ago and the toddler set adored them. I saw the recipe as I was going through a binder of recipes I had starred and thought I definitely had to share this one with you.
The racers are really easy to put together. Serve them with the Teddy Bear Race Cars for a racing themed party.
Hot Dog Race Cars
Ingredients:
8 green onions with roots
Mustard and ketchup
40 toothpicks
8 hot dog buns
32 large pitted ripe olives, halved
16 slices American cheese
8 hot dogs
8 radish slices
Directions:
1. Cut root end of onions into 2-1/2-in. lengths; dip roots in mustard (I just left my onion with white hair). Insert a toothpick into opposite end; set aside.
2. Place buns on plates. To fasten wheels, insert four toothpicks in each bun, two on each side. Place an olive half, cut side out, on each toothpick (When I make these for kids, I do not use toothpicks; I prop the olives next to the buns).
3. Cut cheese slices into 3-1/4-in. triangles; set aside.
4. Cook hot dogs according to package directions; place in buns. Insert green onion, using a toothpick, into the center of hot dog for driver (Again, I don’t use a toothpick here. I cut a small slit in the hot dog and insert the onion into the opening).
5. Cut a small widthwise slit in hot dog in front of driver; insert a radish slice for the steering wheel.
6. Place one cheese triangle in front of steering wheel and one behind the driver. Cut a hole in the corner of a pastry or plastic bag; fill with ketchup. Pipe numbers on front cheese slices and sides of buns. Pipe eyes and mouth on driver.

All I know is I really love this song and think the rest of the album is pretty catchy, too.
