Praline-Apple Pie

Q: Why did the pie go to a dentist?

A: Because it needed a filling.

This is one of the easiest and most yummy apple pies out there.

Apple pie is always good, but topped with a rich pecan-praline sauce it’s kind of fabulous.

Praline-Apple Pie

Ingredients:

1 (15-ounce) package refrigerated piecrusts
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
6 cups peeled, sliced Rome or other cooking apples
2 tablespoons butter, cut into small pieces
2 teaspoons lemon juice
1/4 cup butter
1/2 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
2 tablespoons whipping cream
1/2 cup chopped pecans

Directions:

1. Fit 1 piecrust into a 9-inch pie plate according to package directions.

2. Stir together sugar, flour, and cinnamon. Stir in apples; spoon mixture into crust. Dot with 2 tablespoons butter; sprinkle evenly with lemon juice.

3. Top with remaining piecrust; fold edges under, and crimp. Cut several slits in top.

4. Bake pie at 400°F for 45 minutes on lower oven rack, shielding with aluminum foil after 30 minutes to prevent excessive browning. Remove from oven, and let cool.

5. Melt 1/4 cup butter in a small saucepan; stir in brown sugar and whipping cream. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly; cook 1 minute, and remove from heat. Stir in pecans, and let stand 5 minutes. Slowly drizzle mixture over pie.

I loved this song back in 1982 when it came out, but I really appreciate how freaking awesome it is now.

Put on some headphones and listen loud.

The first minute of the song is unbelievably good. There’s that pulsating beat that gives way to the sound effecty thing and then the almost sudden introduction of that driving bass line. Oh Me. Oh My. I could listen over and over and over.
