Short And Sweet. Cheesecake Pops.

Guess what?

Last night I got tickets to see The Decemberists. Next month IN PORTLAND. Their hometown!

Guess who is the opening act?

Okkervil River!!!!!

Somedays you wake up and wonder how you are going to get through another monotonous day. And then you have something huge to look forward to and life is suddenly so freaking great.

That’s how I woke up today. Smiling. Out of my mind with excitement.

Two of my favorite bands and visiting with one of my best friends in the world are in my future.

Fan-freakin’-tastic.

So are these easy cheesecake pops.

Cheesecake Pops

Ingredients:

1 frozen or refrigerated cheesecake
6 oz bittersweet chocolate, chopped
Graham cracker crumbs
Lollipop sticks

Directions:

1. Microwave chocolate until melted, about 2 to 3 minutes.

2. Either cut a frozen cheesecake into 1-inch cubes or scoop a refigerated cheesecake into balls and then freeze.

3. Gently press a lollipop stick halfway into each frozen cube or scoop of cheesecake. Dip in the chocolate and roll in graham cracker crumbs.

You can also lose the sticks and serve cheesecake balls.

Delicious either way.

Short song. Colin Meloy sang this both times I saw The Decemberists.

This video is not short. But, it illustrates how fabulous The Decemberists are. They played this song when I saw them this January in Boston. It felt just like they were playing it in a living room.

You know sweet is not really what you get with Okkervil River lyrics. The songs may sound sweet, but mostly they are tormented, dark, reflective. There is a lot of stuff going on in each album, but you are not going to get a slobbering love song in any of them.

The closest I could get to sweet, for an Okkervil song, is this one. I know it’s a stretch. Who cares? It’s darn good.

You can watch Okkervil River videos that I posted here and here.

Head to The Decemberist’s website for info about upcoming shows and to buy their music. They’ve got a big shop sale going on right now.

Okkervil River’s website has their tour dates, too. Definitely shop at their online store.

Cheers!
