Mardi Gras Cocktail

Mardi Gras Cocktail

This morning I got in step with popular culture and found out about The Harlem Shake. Ridiculous, but pretty funny.

After all that, I think we need a drink.

This is the last of my little Mardi Gras series. We’ve got Tuesday’s menu covered. A Crêpe recipe yesterday (to celebrate the Pancake Tuesday part of Mardi Gras) and King Cake for dessert.

Now here is a sweet cocktail to kick off the meal. All the flavors of King Cake in liquid loveliness.

Ingredients:

Green, purple and gold sanding sugar, for the glass
2 ounces Lucky Player King Cake Vodka (or use 2 ounces vanilla-flavored vodka plus 2 drops almond extract)
1/2 ounce Grand Marnier
1/2 ounce Baileys Irish Cream
Ground cinnamon, for dusting

Directions:

1. Put a small pile each of green, purple and gold sanding sugar on a plate, keeping them separate. Moisten the rim of a martini glass, then press part of the rim into each colored sugar.

2. Combine the vodka, Grand Marnier and Baileys in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake well, then strain into the prepared glass. Dust with cinnamon.

I love the band Harlem Shakes…quite different from the internet crazed one.

I think they disbanded in 2009, but left behind a cracking bunch of tunes.

My favorite. 18.

Get ready. Sing it. And dance, dance, dance.

“Right now”

Check out Harlem Shakes on their Website. You can buy the music here.

Cheers!
